Hog Hunting East Texas: Hog Hunting at its Finest

Hog Hunting East Texas.com is a feature website for the promotion of feral hog hunts on one of the most scenic ranches in East Texas, the Reed Ranch.

Spotting herds of 8-15 feral hogs at a time is a common occurrence here at Hog Hunting East Texas. The hog population on this Ranch has grown tremendously over the past decade, and it continues to grow due in large part to its ideal habitat, plentiful food sources and controlled hunting environment.

Hog Hunting East Texas:Take Your Next Hog Hunting Trip With Us

Located less than 90 minutes NE of Dallas in Fannin County (Click Here to See a County Map) the Reed Ranch is an active operating cattle ranch.

The Ranch consists of 2,000 acres and borders along Bois D’ Arc Creek, which  serves as a major tributary to the main stem of the lower Red River.  Along this continuous water source the large open grasslands and dense forests of the Ranch provide a fertile breeding ground for feral hogs, deer, wild turkey, bobcats and coyotes.

At Hog Hunting East Texas our Ranch lies in the gateway between the Blackland Prairie and western timbers of the Grand Prairie regions of the State, which serves as an important stopover for migratory birds.

The undulating topography and the natural features of this beautiful  ranch land provide stunning views of the neighboring countryside, and tremendous conditions for our feral hog hunters to stay elevated above the game trails and the primary feeding areas.

At the end of the day you can watch the amazing colors of sunset from atop one of the highest elevations in the county.  Then after sunset you can gaze at the unblemished clarity of the stars.  And even as you are surrounded by all the comforts and amenities of home, the night skies of the Ranch will remind you of the most remote areas of the country.

Hog Hunting East Texas.com is reserving hog hunting excursions on an exclusive and limited basis.  Our wildlife management program is designed to provide hunters with a quality hunt while creating a low impact and low pressure environment for the native wildlife.

Accommodations at Hog Hunting East Texas.com include private housing for up to 8 hunters, full kitchen, patio, outside seating, several Bass fishing ponds and more.

Hogs Gone Wild – Feral Hogs in Childress, Texas

Feral hogs are domestic hogs that either escaped or were released for hunting purposes. Considered a nuisance animal, they compete with livestock and native wildlife for food. Their rooting and trampling can damage native habitat, fields and crops. It’s estimated there are over 1.5 million feral hogs in Texas. Use extreme caution around mothers and their young and wounded hogs. These hogs were videotaped at the Childress High School wildlife management area. Feral Hog Hunting, Big Boar Down

This was just over a month ago. I took my brother Jon up to Chases and hunted some hogs. The first night I spotted one and Chase took an uphill shot in the dark. He missed. The next morning we went out to do some brush popping. I found some fresh tracts in the stream bed so I follwed them and I got right up to within about 10 feet from a big boar while he was resting. He busted off his bed, I took him with the 3rd shot. No, I didnt get the camera on, I tried! I realy did! Enjoy Y’all!

Aerial Feral Hog and Coyote Hunt in Texas

My uncle had taken a trip to Texas for a hunting expedition in a helicopter. 15 hogs and 1 coyote were taken with an AR-15. This was the trip of a lifetime for him. This video might be hard for some of you to watch. Feel free to exit this video if you are offended. Refrain from posting rude and ignorant comments as they will be deleted. I have no problem with contructive criticism.

“Wet & Hoggish” Russian Boar & Feral Hog Hunting

Feral hogs originate from Europe and have occupied North America since the 16th century. Every passing year wild pig populations have grown steadily. As of 2008, an estimated population of about 4 million feral hogs caused over 800 million dollars worth of property damage alone in the United States. In Texas the hunting season never ends as feral hogs are considered varmints. This brief presentation contains video segments and photographs collected from hunting Russian boar and feral pigs at Boar Creek Ranch in early March of 2012. Boar Creek Ranch is a privately owned and operated hunting ranch located in Tennessee Colony Texas. The Russian Boar is a keen and resilient adversary that will test your skills and determination. Well known for their nocturnal habits, keen sense of smell, acute hearing, thick cartilage plating covering the shoulders, and a mouth full of razor sharp teeth all add to the challenge and allure of harvesting a trophy boar. Our trip proves to be successful as we braved inclement weather conditions and brought back both trophies for the wall and plenty of mouth watering pork for the freezer that we can enjoy all year long. Hog hunting in Texas is an added bonus during spring turkey season. Wayne Prejean (Non-Typical Outdoors) swaps places with Scot York (Wildlife Innovations Technologies) to get in front of the camera for an afternoon hog hunt. After a midday scouting trip and quick tree stand setup, the hunt is on.
